Evelyn I. Liggett, 85. of Galesburg, formerly of Alexis, died 9:20 A.M. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at the Rosewood Care Center, Galesburg,
She was born January 10, 1924 in Alexis, the daughter of Harold and Fern (Robbins) Armstrong.
She was raised and educated in Alexis, graduating from Alexis High School in 1941 and then attended Western Illinois University.
Evelyn married Harold Liggett on February 21, 1943 in Chicago, and he survives.
She was a mother and homemaker.
She was a member of the Harmony Baptist Church of Galesburg.
Her family includes her husband, Harold; four children, Carrie (Ken) Cina of Sussex, WI; Bob (Anita) Liggett of Hot Springs Village, AR; Nancy Lundquist of Galesburg and Dan (Lauren) Liggett of Houston, TX, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one son-in-law, Jim Lundquist.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Harmony Baptist Church in Galesburg with Rev. Robert Eshleman. Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, prior to the funeral service at Harmony Baptist Church when her family will receive friends. Memorials may be left for Harmony Baptist Church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis is in charge of arrangements.

Burial will be in Alexis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis, is in charge of arrangements.
