On 11 Dec. 1811 Samuel purchased the south half of Section 32, Township 18, Range 6 from John & Susan Bower of Frederickstown, Maryland for $1,000. This purchase was 4 years after the land had been deeded to the Bowers by Thomas Jefferson. He and his wife moved to Ohio with a party of settlers near Stark County, Ohio.
