Death notice from the Douglas County Herald: "Services Held For Nellie Marsh: Funeral services for Nellie Mae Marsh, Mt. Vernon, were held at 1 P.M. Thursday in First Baptist Church with burial in IOOF Cemetery, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
Mrs. Marsh, a retired nurse, died at 12:30 A.M. Tuesday in Columbia Hospital South, after a long illness.
The daughter of Sim and Sallie (Turner) Evans, she was born May 24, 1911, at Toledo, Mo. where she lived until she married Evert Ruben Marsh in 1932. They then moved to Mt. Vernon where she worked as a nurse at the State Sanitarium until she retired.
She is survived by one son, Stanley, and wife, Betty; one daughter, Wanda Buffington, both of Mt. Vernon; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Lena Sallee, Mt. Vernon; 16 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; four brothers, Ersell, Earl, Jimmy and Audie; two sisters, Tema Bacon and Iva Coon, and one grandchild, Brenda Marsh.
Nellie was converted at Thornfield Baptist Church in 1931 and lived a faithful Christian life."
