Pattie Anderson, born 1869 Marks Creek, Wake County, NC, 4th of 5 known children born to Jesse Anderson & (2nd wife) Mary Margaret Tucker, of Wake Co.

Patti married Landon Llewelyn Doub, son of Prof. William Clark Doub & Laura A. Blake, about 1887. At the time, she would have been 18, and he 34. They farmed in and around the Marks Creek/Shotwell area and both were teachers in the Shotwell area.

Pattie and Landon were parents to 9 known children, although only the following were found:

* Langdon Anderson Doub (1889-1974)
* Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Doub Tucker (1891-1952)
* Hon. Albert Doub, Sr. (1893-1960)
* Laura Blake Doub Sexton (1896-1982)
* Agnes Bell Doub Jones (1901-1993)
* Pattie Anderson Doub (1904-1997)
* Grace Blake Doub Brown (1906-2004)
* William Blake Doub (1909-1910)

Pattie was widowed on March 4, 1932 when her husband of 45 years died at age 78. No gravestone was found for Landon in this cemetery, nor was he noted as buried here in the cemetery census conducted by Shirley Olsen on October 6, 2007. He may, however, be buried in one of the crypts that no longer have inscriptions visible.

Patti Anderson Doub survived her husband 19 years, and passed in 1951 at age 81.

IN MEMORY TO HER HUSBAND, LANDON LLEWELYN DOUB
--------------------------------------------------

Landon Lleweln Doub was born October 15, 1853 in Raleigh, Wake County, NC, the 2nd of 3 known children (all sons) born to William Clark Doub and his (1st) wife, Laura Blake.

He was the paternal grandson of Rev. Peter Doub & Elizabeth Brantley of Greensboro, Guilford Co, NC, and the maternal grandson of Rev. Bennett Taylor Blake and his (1st) wife, Fetna Price of Southampton County, VA and Wake County, NC.

Landon's father was a college professor at Trinity College in Randolph County, NC, and later at Greensboro Women's College in Guilford, where his mother had been a student in 1843, and his maternal grandfather was Chaplain and Professor of Mental and Moral Science. Landon's mother died in 1855, giving birth to her 3rd son, Bennett Doub, who died shortly thereafter. Upon the death of his mother, his grieving father sent Landon and his older brother, William Blake Doub, to Wake County to live with their cousin, wealthy planter Alonzo T. Mial.

On November 30, 1860, Landon's father married (2nd) to Susan Jane Duty, the youngest of 12 daughters born to the Rev. Samuel Duty & Frances Kelly Harris of Granville County, NC. The brothers then joined their father and stepmother at Trinity College where they attended school. This second marriage would result in 4 more children being born.

By the time he was 26 years old, Landon had returned to Wake County where he took over running the Price family plantation "Oaky Grove", and caring for his then 80-year old grandfather, Rev. Bennett Blake. His father and stepmother were then living in Oxford, Granville County. Rev. Blake died in 1882, and Landon inherited the family farm, which still is held by family members. His marriage to Pattie Anderson is detailed above.

Landon's older brother, William, became an itinerant preacher traveling all around North Carolina. He married Josephine Bryan of Jonesboro, NC in about 1880. They were parents to 5 children (4 girls/1 boy). William died in Durham, NC in 1895. It is not known where he is buried, or what became of his family.
