Born in Ellis, Illinois, she came to this community 43 years ago from Danville, Illinois. She was a 1933 graduate of Danville High School.
Until her marriage, in 1940 in Danville, to Ermal Liptrap, a farmer, she was city editor of Danville Commercial News. After coming to this area, she taught oil painting for many years in this community and surrounding communities. She had instructed over 200 students. Mrs. Liptrap also made and sold pottery.
She was a member of Boswell United Methodist Church and Prairie Chapter Order of Eastern Star where she was past matron. Mrs. Liptrap also was a member of Tri Kappa Sorority, Busy Doers Home Economics Club and was past president of Benton County Home Economics Club.
Surviving with the husband are a son, John Lip trap of The Woodlands, Texas; one daughter, Mrs. Martin (Janet) Shields of Boswell; two sisters, Mrs. Belva Fisher of rural Ambia and Mrs. Eleanor Towner of rural Danville and three brothers, Willis and Robert Tarpley, both of Crystal Falls, Michigan and Richard Tarpley of Sun City, Arizona.
