1942 BELL Former Judge of Coke County Dies at San Angelo
Judge W. H. Bell of Robert Lee, county judge of Coke County from 1925 to 1931, died in a hospital at San Angelo. Funeral services were held in the Robert Lee Methodist church, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. John Brown, assisted by Rev. K. P. Barton of San Angelo. Deceased was a native of Arkansas. He was born there April 15, 1868, making him to be 74 years old. On December 16, 1891, he married Miss Elizabeth Hall, who survives him.
They came in 1899 to Coke County. They had been married 50 years and observed their golden wedding last year. Besides the widow, nine children and 19 grandchildren survive. The children are Mrs. Floyd Sturman, Elida, New Mexico; Mrs. Paul Brown, San Angelo; Mrs. Robert M. Lowry, Ballinger; Mrs. Freeman Clark, Robert Lee; Miss Jessie Bell, Big Spring; Mrs. Allie Bilbo, Robert Lee; Mrs. Rial Denman, Texas City; Mrs. A.F. Landers, Fort Stockton; and Mrs. Marcus Turner, Norton. As a public official, Judge Bell served with credit to himself and to the satisfaction of his constituency. He was conscientious and sincere in all his efforts as county judge and tried always to serve the interests of his county, as he had light to see the right and always commanded the respect of all. Truly, a good man has passed. The Enterprise extends sympathy to those of the family circle in this hour of sorrow and bereavement.
