When Heinrich Johann John Henry Kappelman was born on November 28, 1837, in Borgholzhausen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, his father, Heinrich, was 26 and his mother, Williamenia, was 27. He married Anna Marie Catherine Haselhorst about 1863. They had many children in 26 years. He died on July 28, 1891, in Freedom, Missouri, at the age of 53.
