Apollo
Walter H. "Butch" Boyer Jr., 64, of Apollo, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at Kittanning Care Center, following a lengthy illness of Multiple Sclerosis. He was born Jan. 31, 1944, in Kittanning, son of the late Walter H. and Frieda Marie (Wingard) Boyer Sr., and lived in the Kittanning area and Apollo all of his life.
He was employed by the former National Roll, now Akers National Roll, in Avonmore, as a finish grinder. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Apollo.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melanie Boyer, in 1969.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vivian (Rearick) Boyer; sons, Jason "Jay" (Amy) Boyer, of Ft. Monroe, Va., and Steven (Melissa) Boyer, of West Lebanon; and three grandchildren, Brady Boyer, of West Lebanon, Stephanie Boyer, of West Lebanon, and Ian Boyer, of Hampton, Va. At the request of Butch, there will be no viewing.
Friends will be received from 12:30 p.m. until time of memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, with Pastor Judith Boggs, at CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME, Apollo, PA. Burial will be in Elderton Cemetery.
