Edward E. Butterfield was born July 13, 1911 to Sarah Channing and Elijah Alma Butterfield in Murray,UT. He married Mary Richardson. She preceded him in death 42 years ago and he was anxiously awaiting their reunion. He was sealed in the LDS Temple to Mary after her death in 1960.
Edward was a hard worker beginning his employment at Murray Smelter during the Depression, and retiring from Kennecott many years later. He enjoyed working in his beautiful yard on 6400 S. in Murray, where he grew a great garden that he would share with all his family and friends. He loved children and always went out of his way to speak to and tease them. He used to ride many miles on his bicycle becoming an icon in the area.
Edward is survived by his children; Joyce (Richard) Saunders, Spring Lake, Ed A. (Bobbie), Jerry L. (Pattie), both of Salt Lake, Ron (Patti), Sandy; and Susan (LaMont) Day, Draper. His heart was saddened deeply when his youngest son Michael S., preceded him in death in 1996. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Louise Dumas, Rose Bess, Mamie Erickson, Dora Breeze, and brother Jim.
Ed was married and divorced to Lila Broadhead, Rose Bird and Wanda Rampton. He also leaves his dance partner and sweetheart, Adina Lloyd. Ed had a large posterity-over 52 grancdhildren and 63 great-grandchildren.
His family will miss the early morning birthday phone calls he always remembered to make.
Interment; Murray City Cemetery.
