Lewis A. Cox, 87, of Plainview, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, in Plainview. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. A visitation will be held this evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Cox was born on April 14, 1921, in Plainview, Texas, to Bradford and Georgia Nola Cox. He married Julia Faye Cox on Aug. 17, 1940, in Clovis, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army in Japan during World War II. He has been a farmer all of his life. His father was from one of the first farming families in the Plainview area. He had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1962.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Cox of Plainview; three sons, Gerald Cox and wife, Carol, of McKinney, Gary Cox and Joanne of Allen and Jackie Cox and wife, Nancy, of Plainview; one brother, Douglas Cox of Plainview; three sisters, Chrystelle Mitchell of Plainview, Joann Flowers of Plainview and Georgia Daffern of Plainview; grandchildren, Randy Powell, Larry Powell, Julie Chambliss and Michael Cox; and great-grandchildren, Dillon, Raegan, Grayson and Darrian.
