Taken by Death
James Herbert Bolen, 57, of Besoco, died in a local hospital at 10:30 p.m. Monday after an illness of four weeks. Death was attributed to cancer.
Born at Odd, on Sept. 7, 1899, he was a son of Aaron Washington Bolen of Lillybrook, and the late Martha Jane Shrewsbury Bolen.
He married the former Virgie Garretson on May 3, 1921, who survives him.
He was employed at the Besoco mine for the past 29 years, and was a member of the United Mine Workers of America Local Union No. 6417.
Surviving in addition to his widow and his father, are three daughters, Mrs. Susan Gayhart of Chicago, ill., Mrs. Evelyn Walker of White Oak, and Mrs. Freda Rainelle of Besoco; three sons, Okey Herbert and Clarence of Chicago, Ill., and John Horace of Ft. Knox, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. Sadie Maxwell of Strawsbury, Ohio, and Mrs. Chloie Stanick of Lillybrook; four brothers, Carl, Lonie, Esau and George Bolen all of Lillybrook.
Funeral rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Besoco Methodist Church by the Rev. Linsey Basham assisted by the Rev. Charley B. Cox
Burial will be in the Hannah Lilly Cemetery at Odd.
The body will be taken to the residence at 5 p.m. today from Melton Mortuary.
