Rev. Cool was born March 23, 1928 in Diana, West Virginia to the late Walter and Lona Fisher Cool.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Kimberly Eileen Cool.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eileen Young Cool of the home; two sons, James D. Cool, Jr. and wife Dale of Johns Creek, Ga. and Gary W. Cool of Bishop, Ga.; one daughter, Pamela C. Smith and husband Marc of Lewisville, N.C.; one brother, Arnold J. Cool of Albany, Ky.; one sister, Virginia C. Stein of Port St. John, Fla.; four grandchildren, James Walter Cool, Allison L. Coulter and husband Lanier, Victoria Julianne Smith, and Jenna Elizabeth Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Emmaline Kimberly Coulter.Rev. Cool was a retired Baptist minister and served the following churches: Gospel Baptist Chapel, Whitwell, Tenn., Hinkle Baptist Church, Lookout Mountain, Ga., Gillsville Baptist Church, Gillsville, Ga.; Oconee Baptist Church, Commerce, Ga., First Baptist Church of Rhodhiss, Rhodhiss, N.C., Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church, Lincolnton, N.C., and Bethel Baptist Church in Morganton, N.C. Rev. Cool also served in the United States Navy during World War II.
His funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, at First Baptist Church, Lincolnton, N.C. with Rev. Greg Hager officiating. Burial will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery. The body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 18, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home.
