Alice Ruth Hawk, 63, of Templeton, near Tidal, passed away Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at Clarview Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Sligo, following an illness. She was born Feb. 12, 1946, in Distant, and was a daughter of the late Walter and Grace (Silvis) Schreckengost. She attended Baker Street Church of God, in Rimersburg, and had graduated from the Redbank Valley School District, Class of 1964. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and crocheting. She married Keith Owen Hawk, May 1, 1971, in Baker Street Church of God, in Rimersburg, and he survives along with a son, Jason Keith Hawk and wife, Amy, of Bailey, Colo.; daughter, Gail Marie Hawk and Frank Fitzgerald, of East Brady; five grandchildren, Kelsey, Colton, Levi and Karissa Hawk, all of Bailey, Colo., and Shawn Fitzgerald, of East Brady; two brothers, Robert Shreckengost and wife, Esther, of Putneyville, and Harold Shreckengost, of Rufugio, Texas; sister, Nancy Shrecengost, of Rimersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death along with her parents were two grand daughters, Kristin Hawk, in 1998, and Elyssa Hawk, in 2001; two brothers, Joseph and Frank Shreckengost; and three sisters, Jane Biteman, Margaret Shrecengost and Naomi Shrecengost. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the RICHARD D. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME, in Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. H. Michael Kennedy, pastor of Baker Street Church of God, officiating. Interment will follow in the Tidal Union Cemetery, RD No. 2, Templeton. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
