Obituary:
Mr. Vallier Van Haelewyn, 86, of 909 Virginia Ave., LaPorte, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999, at 3 a.m. at his home. He was born Feb. 13, 1913, in Chicago to Desire and Elisa (Samyn) Van Haelewyn, and had lived in LaPorte for 22 years, coming from Lake Forest, Ill. Mr. Van Haelewyn had been a custodian. On June 22,1940, in Joliet, Ill., he married Stella Pudlo, who died Aug. 21, 1987.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Surviving are: one daughter, Caroline Smith of LaPorte; two grandchildren and one sister, Alice Reid of Hollywood, Fla.

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Haverstock Funeral Home with Rev. David Kardatzke officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service Wednesday. Interment will be in Pine Lake Cemetery at a later date.
