Ladle Adkins Rites
Ladle Adkins, 88, 3025 8th Ave. S., retired farmer and painter, died Tuesday morning at a local nursing home where he had been a patient the last two years.
Graveside services with military honors will be 2 p.m. Friday in Highland Cemetery.
Born in Somerset, Kentucky, he came to Livingston as a child. At age 17, he was driving stagecoach in Yellowstone Park. He served two years with the Army in World War I. After his discharge he homesteaded in the Boolegger Trail area, then in 1934 moved to Belgrade where he worked as a painter. He also resided in Bozeman before returning to Great Falls.
He married Ruth Prinzing in 1924. She died in 1928 and he married Grace McCullough in 1930.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Virginia Sereday, Dearing, Ga.; Lexie Weaver, Salem, Ore.; Mrs. Mary Jane Brownlee, Houston, Tex.; Mrs. Patsy Ennis, Denver; two sons, Lester "Bud" Adkins, Great Falls and Carl Adkins of Memphis, Tenn.; 20 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
