History - Margaret Parkinson married William ( Carl Ludwig Wilhelm) Deppe on April 17, 1863 in Salt Lake City. She was only sixteen at the time and he was twenty years older. She had lost her family and wanted a family of her own. William was born in Leipzig, Dorsti Hannover, Prussia ( now Saxony, Germany) . He came to the United States and joined the United States Army. He came West with Johnston's Army in 1857 to fight the Mormons, which he never had to do. He assisted in building Camp Floyd, which was their headquarters. He was a private in the Second Dragoons, Company B. After he was discharged, he remained in Salt Lake City. He and Margaret had eight children.
