McMinnville resident and Smith County native Lorene Farmer Morton, 89, was born Oct. 19, 1918 and died June 28 at NHC Healthcare McMinnville following an extended illness.

A homemaker and member of Madison Street Baptist Church, she was the daughter of the late William and Effie Grisham Farmer. She was married March 4, 1938 to Carl Edgar Morton, who preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1998.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Doyle Clark Morton; two sisters, Lucy Wilson and Polly James, and two brothers, Frank and Clarence Farmer.

She is survived by three children and their spouses, Evelyn R. Cooper, Dickie and Jennifer Morton, and Freddie and Diane Morton, all of McMinnville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Pam Cooper, Mark Morton, Sheri and Todd Garrett, and Clay and Amanda Morton, all of McMinnville, and Keri and Joel Womack of Rock Island; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ethel O'Bryan of California, and Kitty Swindell of Lebanon; brother, Joe Farmer of Lebanon; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at High's Chapel with Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Burial followed at Faulkner's Cemetery.

High Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
