benjamin was the son of benjamin franklin "bud" burchett 11 and elzabeth watson, who moved to kingfisher county oklahoma. he married martha ellen bond on november 18, 1869. they had 11 children. he was called big red because of his height and his red hair and beard. big red and martha made the trip out to oklahoma with bud and elizabeth, but did not like it and turned around and returned to olive hill, ky. on their way back to olive hill, their son, my grandfather, dennie sheffer burchett was born in kansas.
