Commander William Lloyd Glover was the son of Cornelia De Treville and Julius Glover.

He married first Julia Salley (1877-1937), daughter of Lydia Walpole and Joel Townsend Salley.
They had three children:
1. Louise Glover, b. 1902, d. 1995; m. Millard Davidson
2. Lydia Glover, b. 1904, d. 1982; m. George Owen Riley
3. William Lloyd Glover, Jr., b. 1917, d. 1984

He married second August 14, 1938, Nettie Lee Izlar (1877-1946). She had married first about 1895 Marvin Hendrix Boone (1854-1930).

He graduated from Porter's Military Academy and attended the University of South Carolina. He was president of the First National Bank in Orangeburg and executive vice president of the State Building and Loan Assn., of Charleston.

He served for three years as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Coast Guard during World War II. He also served as District Port Security Officer, 6th Naval District.
