Mrs. Rigsby holds the distinction of being the first African American cook at the Walker County Jail. Her grandchildren include James Allen Rigsby, Eddye Rigsby Hamilton, Barbara Ann Irving, Sharron Young, Joe Davis, Rick Rigsby, Gina Rigsby, Robert Rigsby, Todd Davis and Nanetta Mills.
On June 25, 1995, Mrs. Rigsby passed away at the age of ninety-seven.
