Eddie B. Rigsby was born in Grimes County, the daughter of Harrison Thomas and Maggie Owens. Rigsby attended the public schools in Grimes County. She was one of five children, including sisters Ella, Aslee, and Mozelle and brother John ( Pete), who is now deceased. Eddie B. married Rufus Rigsby, and they had seven children: Olan Rigsby, Eunice Rigsby, Rodger Rigsby (deceased), Vivian Rigsby Demerson (deceased), Miriam Rigsby Davis (deceased), Opal Mills, and Edward Rigsby.
Mrs. Rigsby holds the distinction of being the first African American cook at the Walker County Jail. Her grandchildren include James Allen Rigsby, Eddye Rigsby Hamilton, Barbara Ann Irving, Sharron Young, Joe Davis, Rick Rigsby, Gina Rigsby, Robert Rigsby, Todd Davis and Nanetta Mills.
On June 25, 1995, Mrs. Rigsby passed away at the age of ninety-seven.
