William Augustus Champion was the 3rd ch & son of Jason Littleberry Champion & Martha W. Bowdoin. Born 9 Apr 1841 in Monroe Co., GA. Married 1st: 2 Apr 1861 in Monroe Co., GA - Eliza Browning, 23 Oct 1847 - 20 Oct 1888 buried: City Cem., Grapeland, Houston Co., TX. One dau., Martha E. Champion, 7 Feb 1862 Monroe Co., GA-1 Mar 1892 Grapeland. Wm. A. was a schoolteacher in Georgia & at Dalys & Grapeland, TX. For 23 years was in public office in Houston Co., TX-1st as Justice of the Peace and later, District Clerk. Was in the grocery business and was a land purveyor.
