ADAMSVILLE - Max Ray Carothers, 75, retired from Brown Shoe Co., died of heart failure Tuesday at Tri-County Convalescent Home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Adamsville Cemetery. Shackelford Funeral Home in Selmer has charge.

He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4939. Mr. Carothers, the widower of Betty Wicker Carothers, leaves two sons, David Carothers and Danny Carothers, both of Adamsville, and two grandchildren.

His parents were Henry Stewart Carothers and Essie Mae Sewell.
