LANDIS - Clarence Eugene "Speedy" McGraw, 72, of North Main Street, passed away at his home Thursday morning, Feb. 12, 2009.

Clarence was born Feb. 27, 1936, in Concord, to the late Clarence Paul McGraw and Ruby Elizabeth Barrier McGraw.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by John McGraw, Ed McGraw, Doris Oakes and Kenneth Allman Jr.

Clarence is survived by special friend, Mildred C. Allman; her daughter, Tinker Beaver and husband, Mike; daughters, Joyce M. Jones and husband, Gary, of Dayton, Tenn., Becky M. Furr and fiancé, Larry Widenhouse, of Concord, Linda McGraw of Concord, Patty M. Bridges and husband, Brian, of Locust, Nancy M. Sartain of Concord; sons, David McGraw and Bobby McGraw of Concord; 11 grandchildren; sister, Fay M. Layton of Mount Pleasant; and his dog "Zoe."

He had previously worked for Widenhouse Transport and Cannon Mills Plant No.1, before opening Speedy's Lawn Mower Shop in Landis. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church.

His funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. John Melton. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
