Louis H. Hagler, 85, of Prescott, Ariz., died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009.
He was born Nov. 3, 1923, in Champaign, Ill., and grew up in Indiana.
Hagler was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was an engineer in Arizona 40 years. He was a volunteer archaeologist at Arizona State University, in the Scottsdale area of Pinnacle Peak. He was a silversmith and a jeweler, and helped found the Desert Center.
Survivors include his wife, Pauline Hagler; a son, Lou Hagler of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Gwin Reed of Huntington Beach, Calif., Lynn Hagler of Idaho Falls, Idaho; a brother, Ted Hagler of English, Ind.; a sister, Edna Oakley of Crawfordsville, Ind.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A service will be held Monday in Prescott and Tuesday in Scottsdale. Burial will be in National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary in Scottsdale is in charge of arrangements.

He was a Navy Veteran of WWII and an engineer in Arizona for 40 years. He was a volunteer archeologist to Arizona State University, in the Scottsdale area of Pinnacle Peak. He was a silversmith and a jeweler. He helped found the Desert Center. He assisted 5 Methodist Churches. He actively helped in the Community Outreach to homeless families so they could stay together as a family. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Hagler, 3 children and 6 grandchildren. He knew 3 of his great grandchildren. He is loved and missed.
