Sarah Josephine Painter was the first-born child of William Alexander Painter and Rebecca Haley Painter. Sarah Josephine Painter had nine younger brothers and one younger sister.

Sarah Josephine Painter married Charles Elexander "Elec" Barton on June 22, 1879 in Coryell County, Texas. They had four sons.

Sarah Josephine Painter Barton was the older sister of my great-grandfather, Matthew Alexander Painter.
