GEORGIS ANN SWAIN BARTON
Georgia Ann Swain was the daughter of Martin A. Swain and Lizzie Amos. She was born in Belville, West Virginia, and resided with her widowed mother at 1169 Akronism Court in Akron, Ohio in March of 1917. Georgia Ann wed and John Barton, 16 Mar 1917 in Akron. The couple were blessed by the births of two sons, namely--Edward Martin and Robert Louis.

Georgia was a very dedicated wife and mother who, was popular with all classes owing to her honesty and friendliness. As a woman with pleasing characteristics, she, her husband and their children had a host of friends in Medina county. The biographer of this said sketch found that all who knew her were unstinted in their praise of her many sterling qualities as a woman. She also found that a gapping hole remained in the hearts of her family members, as in those of her community, more than ten years after her death.

Georgia had been widowed for sixteen years prior to meeting James Rose, whom she wed on 16 Sep 1967 in Medina County, Ohio. Georgia was the first to admit she had difficulty becoming a new bride at that stage of her life and had to make many personal sacrifices. Georgia was an early breast cancer survivor, undergoing surgery to rid her body of this dreaded disease. Many years later, Georgia became a resident in the home of her son, Robert, and his wife Marce, and later a resident of Hospitality House in Massillon prior to her admittance at Massillon Community hospital, where she passed away.

Cemetery Inscriptions
John and Georgia were interred in Section 26, Lot 151 South, graves three and four. Their final resting place is graced with a lovely black granite upright marker, inscribed as follows: BARTON John F. 1888-1951 and Georgia A. 1901-1991.

NOTES
Georgia's surname was listed as Swain on her 1991 death certificate and incorrectly as Swane on her son, Robert's 1993 death certificate. Her death certificate was recorded in the Ohio Vital Statistics as Georgia A. Rose, age 89, white widowed female, born 1 June 1901 in West Virginia, died at 10:12 pm on 3 March 1991. Resident of Ohio, father's surname was Swain. Volume 21843, Certificate 28500.
