"The LaFayette Sun" - April 8, 1914:

Mr. J. G. Fuller, of LaFayette, the oldest citizen of this town, being 82 years of age, was out Monday and cast his vote. He has been voting ever since 1852, the year he cast his first vote. Mr. Fuller has been in feeble health for some time and his friends were glad to shake his hand Monday and congratulated him on his being permitted to come to the polls. Mr. Fuller was originally a Whig, but with the birth of the Democratic Party he cast his lot in with that party and has been a strong supporter of it and its principles from that day to this good year 1914. He has been voting 62 years.

Death of Mr. Jesse G. Fuller.

Mr. Jesse G. Fuller died at his residence here last Sunday morning after a lingering illness of many months. He was one of the oldest citizens of Chambers County; he would have been 85 years of age if he had lived to the 29th day of July of the present year. In 1860 he was married to Miss Sarah Kellum, who still survives him. Besides the widow, he leaves three daughters – Mrs. A. S. Tatum, Mrs. J. S. Newman and Miss Susie Fuller; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and a large number of relatives and friends. For over forty years Mr. Fuller had been a consistent member of the Baptist Church. He was an old Confederate veteran, having served in Co. I, 47th Ala. Regiment. Mr. Fuller was the last of a family of nine. The funeral services were held at the home at 11 o'clock on last Monday morning and were conducted by Dr. W. C. Bledsoe, a life-long friend and for a long time, in former years, the pastor of the deceased, assisted by Rev. J. M. McCleskey, pastor of the Methodist Church, of LaFayette. Rev. H. R. Arnold, pastor of the Baptist Church here, of which the family were members, returning from the Southern Baptist Convention in Ashville, N.C., reached LaFayette in time only to offer the closing prayer at the graveside. Sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved family.
