Aldona C. Balchunas, 88, of Toms River, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick. Born in Bayonne, residing in Bayonne most of her life before moving to Ortley Beach for 4 years and then to Toms River in 1982. She was a secretary for 12 years for Preston Trucking Co., Jersey City, retiring in 1979, and previously was a secretary for 23 years for Tose Trucking, Jersey City. Aldona was a member of Tradewinds Chapter of Deborah and Women's Club of Holiday City Silverton.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1981. Surviving is a son, Kenneth and his wife Dorothy of Destin, FL; a daughter Joyce and her husband Robert Schug of Lavallette, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Susan Mendes, Karen Kloo and Eric Balchunas; 4 great grandchildren, Caroline Mendes, Olivia Mendes, Alex Kloo and Adam Kloo.
Visitation will be held Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ. Funeral Mass Friday 9:15 AM at St. Luke RC Church, Old Freehold Rd., Toms River. Arrive at Funera Home 8:15 AM Burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River.
