Adams served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, being discharged as a first lieutenant.


He retired from Ameren CIPS as superintendent of the Grand Tower station after 30 years with the company. He was a 50-year member of the Masons, member of the Elks and Eagles in Sikeston, Mo., and past president of Hillsboro, Ill., Rotary Club. He loved fishing in the Mississippi River all his life.
