James Oliver Hodge, 48, was pronounced dead on arrival early Saturday morning, (12 JUN 1982) at the Glynn-Brunswick Hospital from apparent natural causes. He had been in declining health for some time.

A native of Wayne County, he had lived most of his life in Brantley County. A retired finance company manager, he was a son of Mrs. Louise O'Berry Hodge of Hortense and the late Hugh Hodge. He attended the Philadelphia Wesleyan Saw Grass Church.

Survivors, besides his mother, are his wife, Mrs. Faye Clark Hodge of Hortense; four daughters, Mrs. Cathy Manning of Jesup, Mrs. Nora Woods and Miss Anna Hodge, both of Hortense, and Mrs. Diane Beasley of Savannah; three sons, Ronnie DeLoach, Pete DeLoach, and Hugh Hodge, all of Hortense; two brothers, David L. Hodge and Henry W. Hodge, both of Mandarin, Fla.; there are six grandchildren and several other relatives.

Services for Mr. Hodge were held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon from the Philadelphia Wesleyan Saw Grass Church near Hortense.

Officiating were the pastors, Reverend David Horne and Reverend Leon Wakefield.

Interment was in the Hortense Cemetery.

Clough-Pearson Funeral Home of Blackshear was in charge.
