A lifelong resident of Winn Parish, N. P. Adams, 82 years of age, died at his home in Sikes, Monday, March 22, 1937, as a result of dropsy. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. L. D. Emmons, Baptist minister, March 23rd at the Harmony Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons of the deceased. Burial was under direction of Edmonds Funeral Home.

Mr. Adams was born in the Sikes Community in November, 1854, and resided his entire life in that section. He and his wife who preceded him in death, reared a large and useful family.

He is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Rosia Smith, Quitman; Miss Lizzie Adams, Sikes; Mrs. Clarence Griffin, Strong, Ark.; Mrs. Tom Griffin, Tuxno, La.; Watson Adams, Sikes; Chester Adams, Livingston, Texas; Dr. Adams, Cherokee, Ala.; and Ira Adams, Birmingham, Ala. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and relatives.
