George J Trowbridge • At the present death rate the Republic county settlers will all be gone, four having died within the past eight days. The last to succumb was Geo. J. Trowbridge who died Wednesday at two o 'clock at his home in Concordia. The deceased had been suffering from a cancer for years. He was born in Indiana in 1835, and has seventy years of age. He served during the war of the Rebellion, and came to Kansas thirty-eight years ago, where he settled in Lincoln township, and which was his home until five years ago when he moved to Concordia He took a prominent part in the early history of this county and was the second treasurer elected. He was the father of nine children. The Concordia Kansan says: "he has been a good neighbor and a conscientious citizen through all his life" this is much in the sum total of good citizenship. George Trowbridge will be sincerely mourned by many of the old settlers of Republic and Cloud counties.
