Lois I. Dwenger, 79, of Lafayette, formerly of Ambia, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Born March 2, 1927, to the late Jacob and Charlotte Pitstick Altepeter in Lafayette, she spent all of her life in the Benton County area. She attended St. Mary's School in Dunnington, was a 1945 graduate of Ambia High School and attended the St. Francis School of Nursing.

Her marriage was to George W. Dwenger on May 1, 1946, and he survives.

Mrs. Dwenger had farmed with her husband in Benton County since 1946.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dunnington, St. Lawrence Church in Lafayette, the St. Rita Couples Study Club, St. Rose of Lima Study Club, the Rosary Sodality and was an officer in the Catholic Order of Foresters. She enjoyed playing euchre, knitting, photography, and reading - especially mysteries.

Surviving with her husband are her children, Ted Dwenger (wife: Nancy) of Sulphur, Ky., Robert "Bob" Dwenger (wife: Barb) of Boswell, Nancy Schroeder (husband: Steve) of Mandan, N.D., Phyllis Kochert (husband: R.C. "Skip"), Bette Dwenger and Pat Dwenger, all of Lafayette, and Paula Dwenger of West Lafayette.

Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Keith Kochert (wife: Kristen), Angela Forrester (husband: Tony), Lana Kelly (husband: Lawrence), Aaron Schroeder, Alicia Schroeder, Jacob "Jake" Dwenger and Robert "Robby" Dwenger; and 7 great-grandchildren, Grace and Maren Kochert, Colby and Chelsie Forrester, Zachary, Abigail and Eli Kelly. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Dwenger; a son, Ronald Dwenger and a brother, Ralph Altepeter.
