Drury W. Warren was born in Virginia, son of Drury Warren and an unknown mother. The family traveled westward through the Cumberland Gap first to Robertson County, Tennessee; and then Drury W. headed north to Shelby County, Kentucky where he married Jerusha Hunter Smith on 6 Feb 1818; and married Mary Elizabeth Legg on 17 Apr 1820. Their first son James M. was born there, and they moved north to Putnam County, Indiana where 5 more children were born to them. Drury, Elizabeth, and the youngest 2 children are listed in the 1850 census in Beanblossom Twp., Monroe County, where he died and left a will. The decedents moved on to Montgomery County, IL after his death. We do not know yet where Mary Elizabeth Warren died and is buried, but she is listed in the 1880 census for Macon County, Decatur Twp., IL as living with her eldest son James M. Warren. (see Mem. #24858344 for son George Lowe Warren and Mem. #82133873 for son Jonathan Warren)

We believe the "single white rose" at the top of the marker signifies he was a member of the Freemasons.
