Born in Kendrick, MS., died in Paris, TX. *THE PARIS NEWS, Thursday, October 22, 1953, p. 9: 'Mrs. W. S. Brackeen, 1044 Bonham St., died at 3;30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sanitarium of Paris. She was apparently recovering at home after a recent operation, but was unconscious when she was admitted Sunday to the hospital. The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Gene Roden and Sons chapel, and burial will be made in Meadowbrook Memorial Park. The Rev. James Riley of First Baptist Church will officiate, assisted by the Rev. clarence Saint of First Christian Church. Mrs. Brackeen, daughter of the late John Hardy Smith and Sarah Ann (Brockton) Smith, was born at Kendrick, Miss., Oct. 25, 1889. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since the family moved here from Cooper, about 12 years ago. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, W. N. (Bill) Brackeen, Paris; two grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters; W. M. Smith, Henryetta, Okla., Claud Smith, Mrs. Mary McKay, Mrs. Allen Lee, Mrs. L. P. Walker and Mrs. Vernon Scroggins, all of Dallas, and Mrs. G. W. Swanson, Paris.
