Edna M. Shupe, 98, of Richlandtown, formerly of Kiski Township, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009, in the Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. She was born July 24, 1910, in Spring Church, a daughter of the late John Murray and Daisy (Uncapher) Knappenberger. She had resided in Kiski Township before moving to Bristol in 1956. She moved back to Kiski Township in 1972, and returned to Eastern Pennsylvania in 1996. A homemaker, she was the proud mother of three sons, Dwight R. (Betty) Shupe Jr., of Bellville, Ohio, W. James (Roseann) Shupe, of Frankford, W.Va., and Paul O. (Georgia) Shupe, of Ottsville, Pa.; and a daughter, Mary Bartram, of Yardley. Along with her children, she is survived by 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Clair (Helen) Knappenberger, of Parks Township. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Shupe Sr., in 1991; six brothers, Murray, John, Paul, Earl, Verle and Albert Knappenberger; and four sisters, Ethel Schwoegin, Rosina Linsenbigler, Lucy Klingensmith and Verde Scott. The family will welcome friends from 11 until the time of services at noon Monday in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME, Apollo. The Rev. Judith Boggs will preside. Burial will follow in the Spring Church Lutheran Cemetery.
