Frank Leonard Burleson, age 84, of Bakersville, NC, passed away February 7, 2009.
He was a native of Mitchell County, NC, and was the son of the late Jesse and Venie Grindstaff Burleson.
He was a former employee of Baxter Healthcare and served in the US Army in World War II. He was a member of Silver Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include: Daughters, Brenda Byrd and husband Jerrell of Johnson City, TN, Linda Gouge and husband Jerry of Bakersville, NC, Glenda Buchanan and husband Jack of Bakersville, NC, son, Frankie Burleson and wife Christina of Burnsville, NC, sisters, Edith Wyke of Asheville, NC, Mary Hughes of Burnsville, NC, Elberta Buchanan of Bakersville, NC, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by: Wife, Vaughtie Mae Burleson, sisters, Ruth Grindstaff, Ellen Howell, Jenny Buchanan, Mae Grindstaff, and Anna Mae Burleson, brothers John, Paul, and James Burleson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at 8:00PM at the Silver Chapel Church. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Jay Orr and Kenneth Murphy will be officiating the service.
Interment will be Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at 11:00AM at the Silver Chapel Cemetery on Hwy 80.
