Philo Solomon Baldwin was the son of Aaron Baldwin Jr. and Harriet Baker. He married Emily Chase in 1847 and had 6 children: Clarissa P 1847-1848, Aaron Solomon 1849, Philo 1852, Orrin Zenos 1852, Emily C 1854, and Annie E (Albert) Bedell 1859. Emily Chase died in 1863. In the same year Philo remarried his niece Augusta Francis Baldwin, daughter of his brother German Baker, and had 4 more children: Fannie E (Lester) Holcomb 1866, Flora Carrie (Jack) Burkle 1872, Maude F 1878, and Alice Louisa (John F) Robinson 1880.

Westville -- Philo Baldwin, an old resident here, died last Saturday; funeral Monday.
He had been sick a long time and suffered very much. He leaves a wife and several children to mourn. His son Philo of Amsterdam, was home to the funeral and spent two or three days in town.
