ELEANOR BALLUFF EVERETT
LAMONT (Special)— Funeral services were held for Mrs. Fred Everett at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan; 17, in the Methodist church in Lamont. Services were conducted by Rev. Moon and Rev. Christiansen. Burial was at County Corners.
Rosa Eleanor Balluff was born in Clayton county, Jan. 10, 1867, and died Jan 14, 1951. She was the daughter of Victor and Mary Mullen Balluff and was the eldest of ten sisters and two brothers. All of these preceded her in death except two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Evert of Oelwein and Mrs. Stella Wiltse of Cascade.
Her education was received in the rural schools and Strawberry Point after which she taught school for several years.
On November 26, 1890, she married Fred Everett. They had four sons and four daughters of whom living are Mrs. Florence Dunsmoor, Independence; Gerald Everett, Edgewood and Clarence at home. Preceding her in death were Victor Roland, 21 months, Annamary 21 months, Bennard, 15 years, Mrs. Genevieve Durham of Lamont and Miss Pearl Everett of Cedar Rapids.
She spent the early part of her married life on various farms in the vicinity of Strawberry Point, moving to Lamont in the spring of 1931 where she spent the rest of her life. On Nov. 26, 1950, she and her husband celebrated their 60 wedding anniversary. Her 84th birthday was observed on Jan. 10, 1951. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Mrs. Everett apparently enjoyed normal health for her age the day before she died. As long as her health permitted she was active in her class in the church school and had planned to entertain the group in a few days.
