Service Held for Mrs. Salisbury, 76
Funeral services for Mrs. Frances J. Allen Salisbury, 76, were held at 11 a.m. Friday from Phillips and Luckey chapel, with the Rev. J. N. Foreman, pastor of First Baptist church, officiating.
Burial followed in Sandy Creek cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were John D. Yoakum, Clyde L. Hargrove, Nabor Diver, Giles Yoakum, Walter E. Wenzel, Clarence Diver, all of whom were nephews and great-nephews of the deceased.
Mrs. Salisbury died in the late hours of last Wednesday night in Richards hospital here. She resided at 1414 E. Cameron street. She was a daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth Day McCoy, and was born in Missouri on August 4, 1885.
As Frances Jane McCoy she was married, when in her early teens, to Luther M. Allen on September 2, 1900. The couple lived in and near Rockdale up until the husband's death January 11, 1927. In 1929 she married Ernest McKinney, but several years later she returned and made her home with her children until March 1948, when she became the wife of W. J. Salisbury, and had resided in Rockdale since that time. Her husband died November 14, 1955.
Mrs. Salisbury was the mother of eleven children. She is survived by the following sons and daughters; Lewis Allen, of Dallas; Wm. P. Allen, of Adelphi, Maryland; David Allen, of Hunington Park, California; Eugene H. Allen, Baldwin Park, California; Mrs. Carroll Foster, of Huntington Park, California; Mrs. Thomas Tollett, Three Rivers; Mrs. Marvin Dieball, Lynwood, California; Mrs. W. W. Creel, of San Antonio; Mrs. Harold Waneck, of Taylor; also a step-son Cecil Salisbury of Denver, Colorado; a brother, Dave McCoy, of Rockdale; sisters, Mrs. Mary Yoakum of Milano and Mrs. Ann Farris of Malakoff; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
