Paul A. Markway, 83, Jefferson City, died today at St. Marys Health Center. He was born Dec. 22, 1911, in Wardsville, a son of Henry and Mary Roling Markway. He was married May 12, 1934, in Linn, to Veronic M. Maasen, who died March 5, 1993.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and the parish Holy Name Society. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1003 and the Knights of Columbus, fourth-degree. He was employed with Kempker Sales Co. and owned Markway Amusement Co. until his retirement in 1959.
Survivors include; one son, James A. Markway, Shawnee, Kan.; one brother, Carl Markway, Jefferson City; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Jeannine Hohenstreet, died July 18, 1992.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. Henry Reichert will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
