Lora Magill Fulton Born March 24, 1917, in Cleburne, Texas, Lora Magill Fulton died Friday evening, July 6th after a short illness. At the time of her death, she was acknowledged by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas as being the oldest living granddaughter of a Veteran of San Jacinto. A resident of New Braunfels since 1978, she is survived by her husband of 64 years, Everett Philip Fulton. Lora grew up in central Texas and was a long time resident of San Angelo. She met and married naval aviator, Everett Fulton, also of San Angelo, in November of 1942, just before Everett left for the War in the Pacific. Together they had two children, Philip Andrew Fulton, currently residing in Rockport, Texas and Robin Walden Martin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Lora was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Patterson Magill and Lucretia Caroline Pogue and all eight of her brothers and sisters. In her youth, Lora had aspired to attend art school, but instead chose art as her avocation. Lora worked as an accountant until she and Everett had children. Thereafter, she was a wonderful homemaker. Her artistic talent showed through in her paintings and in crafts and in sewing. She loved to garden and cook. Only in recent years, with advancing age and illness, did she stop participating in clubs and organizations. Lora believed in the importance and value of strong family ties and passionately remained in communication with family members and a multitude of friends acquired through a long and joyous life. She is remembered with much love by all. In addition to her husband, son and daughter, Lora is survived by eight grandchildren: Everett Burke Fulton of Spring Branch, Texas; Emily Elizabeth Fulton Evans of Boerne, Texas; Anna Lora Fulton of Rockport, Texas; Erin Lael Walden, Darby Brianne Walden, Brett Leigh Walden, Danielle Patrice Martin, and Jessica Lynn Martin, all of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Three great granddaughters: Katherine Nicole Fulton and Caroline Suzanne Fulton of Spring Branch and Alana Faye Evans of Boerne. Graveside services will be at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery this Tuesday, July 10 at 2:15 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Hope Hospice of New Braunfels or to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
