Colesburg, Ia., - Special: Funeral for George Washington “Jack” Shaw, 91, where held here
Monday afternoon. Burial was in the Brown Cemetery.
Mr. Shaw died Sunday in Elkader.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. James Shaw, he was born July 19, 1845, at Galena, Ill. He came to this vicinity with his parents when he was five years old and most of his life has been spent here.
He was married four times and was the father of 11 children, four of whom preceded him in death. The seven who survive are; Mrs. Charles Phelps, Mrs. Mary Hunt, and Mrs. Walter Shaw, all of Colesburg; Mrs. Maggie Noggle, of Garber, Mrs. Boyce Hansel of Volga City, William of Edgewood, and James of Osterdock.
He is also survived by 60 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren, and one sister, and one sister, Mrs. G. G. Harris of Minneapolis.
