Verna Lee Scott, 64, Detroit, died on Saturday, February 8, 1997, in the Marion Baptist Medical Center in Hamilton. She was born in Bexar, the daughter of the late George Washington and Mattie Candis Avery Nichols. She was a member of the Baptist Church, a life long resident of Detroit, and a retired rural mail carrier after 20 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Merl Scott.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 11, 1997, at 1 p.m. from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel in Sulligent with burial in the Carter Cemetery. Bro. B.H. King and Bro. Steve Baccus were the officiating ministers.
Survivors include one brother - Alton Lee Nichols, Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters-in-law - Gladys Scott, Vernon, Magdalene Scott, Calderini, Franklin, TN., and Mattie Lee Scott, Detroit; and several nieces and nephews.
