Vera Pauline Amick Callen was born to Paul Horace and Sarah (Lasher) Amick in DuBois, Pennsylvania on September 3, 1923 and departed this life in Chickasha, Oklahoma on January 18, 2013 at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 15 days. Vera grew up in Los Angeles, California where she graduated high school and met Casto Mervin Callen, and they were married on July 24, 1943 in Los Angeles. They moved to Mangum after WWII, Eric in 1949, White Flats in 1955 and back to Mangum in 1968. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and baking, she was known for her chocolate angel food cake. She also enjoyed playing dominos at the Senior Citizens Center and making candy. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Mangum. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Ralph Callen; 2 grandsons, Todd Callen and Paul Trosper; and 2 brothers, Earl and Harold Amick. Survivors include 5 sons, Dewain Callen and wife Carolyn of Coppell, TX, Dale Callen and wife Virgie of Midland, TX, Ron Callen and wife Cathy of Lawton, OK, Jim Callen and wife Sharon of Chickasha, OK and Hal Callen and wife Donna of Wichita, KS; a daughter Janett and husband Larry Trosper of Denton, TX; a daughter in law, Ann Callen of Lawton, OK; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
