Joe was born to Paul and Mary Magdaline (Seitz) Miller. He married Anna Laura Dinkel Nov. 19, 1935 in Victoria, KS. They had 9 children: Cletus, Remigia, Verlin, Elizabeth, Lawrence, Lambert, Bertha, Edward, and Sandra. They farmed near Catharine, KS.

Joe A. Miller, 68, 1907 Whittier, died Saturday Jan. 17, 1981 at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born May 7, 1912 in Ellis County, the son of Paul and Mary (Seitz) Miller.

On Nov. 19, 1935 he married Anna Dinkel in Walker.

Miller was retired from city service. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; four sons, Cletus, Catherine, Verlyn, Victoria, Lawrence, Wichita and Lambert, Manhattan; four daughters, Mrs. Remigia Gottschalk, Hutchinson, Elizabeth Miller, Los Angeles, Mrs. Bertha Hommell, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Sandy Gerstner, Hays; six brothers, Severin, Topeka, Marcel, Norton, Eddie and Gilbert, both of Victoria, Eugene of Nebraska, and Robert, Wellington; five sisters, Mrs. Irene Bittell and Mrs. Rita Bieker, both of Hays, Mrs. Leona Smith, Salina, Mrs. Mary Hayes, Herington, and Mrs. Louise Hammerschmidt and Mrs. Cyrilla Dinkel, both of Victoria; and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20 at the church, with Father Emil Dinkel officiating. Burial was in St. Catherine Cemetery, Catherine.
