Dorothy G. Dovel
Dorothy Gay Dovel, 90, of Shenandoah, died Friday, Sept. 1, 2006, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital in Harrisonburg.
Mrs. Dovel was born Feb. 18, 1916, in Rescue, and was a daughter of the late George T. and Pearl Ida Williams Gay.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Shenandoah Pentecostal Holiness Church.
On May 5, 1934, she married Alvah Lunzo Dovel, who preceded her in death Aug. 2, 1961.
Survivors include a daughter, Frances D. May; two sons, Jerry L. Dovel and Larry E. Dovel, all of Shenandoah; a brother, George T. Gay of Crozet; a sister, Ruby Harding of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Monday at the Shenandoah Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Mike Reynolds officiating. Burial was private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shenandoah Rescue Squad, 544 Fourth St., Shenandoah, VA 22849.
Arrangements were handled by Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah.
