NORMAN PARK — Jackie Newton Bailey, 97, of Norman Park, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2009, at Heritage Healthcare in Moultrie. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Michael Manley, Steve Holley, Randy Parks, Ben Holley and Chip Manley. Jackie Mullis, Margaret Rowe and the staff of Heritage Healthcare (Brownwood) will serve as honorary escorts. Born May 2, 1911, in Colquitt County, she was the daughter of the late George William Newton and Elizabeth Arliffey Barber Newton. She retired as a caseworker with the Georgia Department of Children and Family Services and was formerly associated with Friedlander's Department Store. She was a member of the Moultrie Pilot Club and was the oldest living member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was the last surviving child of nine children of "Uncle Billy" Newton. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Asa Borden Manley; her last husband, Jesse Paul Bailey; one son, Gayle Newton Manley; and grandchildren, Leon Borden "Lee" Manley Jr., Alan Brian Manley and Angela Manley Hoogstra. Surviving are one son, Leon Manley and wife June of Jesup, Ga.; one daughter-in-law, Deloyce Manley of Albany, Ga.; four grandchildren, Dr. Michael Alan Manley, Michele June Holley, Jackie Lynn Parks and Gayle Newton "Chip" Manley Jr.; 11 great-grandchildren, Michelle Renee Hoogstra, Brandon Alan Hoogstra, Dr. Steven Joshua Holley, David Benjamin Holley, Rebecca Michele Holley, Christopher Manley, Rhea Nicole Manley, Ashley Slane Manley, Jessica Lynn Parks, Kadie Leigh Parks and Kim Shore; six great-great-grandchildren, Sean Holley, Morgan Holley, Jaden Lee Manley, Keifer Shore, Carley Shore and Tyler Tomczek.The family will receive friends at the church, one hour prior to the funeral.
