A celebration of the life of Samuel Luther Weems, 85, of Monroe formerly of Delhi will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2:00PM at Dunn Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Best officiating. Visitation will be held from 1PM Thursday until time of service at Dunn Baptist Church. Private graveside services will follow at Newton Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home of Delhi.

Mr. Luther attended Mangham High School, served in the Civilian Conservation Corps and proudly served his country during World War II. He was retired from International Paper Co. in Springhill, LA and was one of the founder of the Waterfront Grill in Monroe, LA. Any planned memorials may be made to the Dunn Baptist Church; 1474 Hwy 80, Delhi, LA 71232 or to the charity of the donors choice.

Mr. Weems is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel James and Martha Curry Weems; two sisters, Eula Baum and Eunice Linder and six brothers, Ordrie, Grady and Elbert Shirley and Albert Sr., C. W. and Lloyd Weems.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Doris Dean Wade Weems of Monroe; five children, Ron and Rose Weems of Shreveport, Don and Dee Weems of Monroe, Martha and Ron Richey of Shreveport, Sam and Jane Weems of Monroe and Cheryl and Glen Harding of Anson, TX; grandchildren, Lea Weems and Ben Porter, of Chicago, IL, Julia Weems and Sergio Villerreal of Spain, Clay and Amy Weems, Anna And Brad Sawyer, Brad and Colette Boutwell and Emma Weems all of Monroe, Eric Boutwell of Delhi, Matthew and Meagan Fox of Ft. Bragg, NC, Jonathan Harding and Aaron Harding both of Ft. Worth, TX and Jessica, Adam and Luke Harding all of Anson, TX; two great grandchildren, Ezekial Anthony Weems and Conner Lucien Sawyer; three sisters, Audie Mercer of Mangham, LA, Vaudie and James Upton of Delhi and Myrtle McVay of Bastrop; and one brother, Clinton and Sallie Ruth Weems of Delhi.

Pallbearers will be Ron Weems, Don Weems, Clay Weems, Sam Weems, Eric Boutwell and Brad Boutwell.
