Hugh Byrd, Jr., 81, of Mt. Vernon Road, Berea, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2009 at UK Medical Center of complications from a fall. He was a Madison County native born May 16, 1927, son of the late Hugh Byrd, Sr., and Cora Huff Byrd, former farmer and painter, member of the Baptist Faith, former resident of Florida and resident of Berea for the past 30 years.
Survivors include 6 children, Hugh Junior Byrd II (Laura Brooks), Sherrie (James ) Finch, Hurshel (Delina) Byrd, all of Berea, Tammy (Robbie) McKee, Betty Buckley, Billy (Tina) Byrd, all of Florida; 1 sister, Viola Bowlin of Berea; 18 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.
